Why are Tablets Such a Craze?

When Apple released Ipad, it impressed a lot of tech-savvy consumers that it sold a million products worldwide and their internet marketing strategies are among the best in the world. Some say that it is not a craze or a fly-by-night fad, but simply a new way to revolutionize the computer industry. Users changed how they interacted with their computer. Gone are the days of pointing the screen with the use of a stylus, and now all we have to do is pinch, pull, and drag the screen from our fingertips.

But why are tablets so very popular and amazing?

Aside from the fact that it is so lightweight and slim, the user interface is simply awesome. Tablets are transformed into canvasses, notebooks, typewriters, and even pianos. The multi-touch experience gives users a direct and easier interaction between him and the tablet. In addition to being a compact tablet, users get the best of everything since it has multimedia to entertain everyone from watching movies, taking digital photos, reading books, listening to MP3s, and most importantly surfing the internet through wi-fi or 3G connecton. Apps serve other functionality such as office purposes, personal digital assistants, cool games, market samurai and more. What I love the most is the ability to be able to read any e-book so easily without having to strain my eyes. Who knew that all the functionalities of a regular desktop computer will be integrated into one thin and sleek product? You do not need any mouse or keyboard; just a docking pad and a protective case and you are all set to go.

A lot of tablets are out in the market, starting with the new Ipad2, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Blackberry Playbook, HP Slate, and Acer Iconia Tab. All of them have a nice user interface design, but their price range is different depending on the platform used, the screen size and resolution, camera quality, processor, RAM, hard disk storage, weight, GPS, and battery life. With the iOS platform versus the Android, one other factor users weigh heavily is the uniqueness and variety of the platform apps.

I purchased the Acer Iconia Tab A500, and personally I think it’s a competitive tablet against iPad2. Though it has the same price as iPad2, the screen size and weight was much more compared to iPad. However, I give it thumbs up to its screen resolution and its storage that can be expandable up to 64GB. Features of both Motorola Xoom and iPad are combined in this Android Honeycomb tablet. After using it a couple of days, I am proud to say that I am one of the crazed gadget savvy users who appreciate what technology has to offer. And investing in a tablet is a good buy, especially if you are one of those who are glued to the internet or computer 24/7.
